3 friends went to a bookshop to buy some exercise books. The prices for each type of exercise books were Rs. 45, Rs. 50, Rs. 65, Rs. 70 and Rs. 100. However the owner of the bookshop prefers more customers than having a few customers buying several exercise books. So, a customer buying his 'x'th exercise book has to pay x times the original price. The three friends who have not bought any exercise book from the bookstore before, decide to buy a total of 5 books, one from each type. What is the maximum cost at which they could buy all the 5 exercise books?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am very sorry it is minimum cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No the question says that they bought one book each of all types(categories) of books

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They have given some answers (A) 270 (B) 305 (C) 330 (D) 365 (E) 425 Also because there are three friends, one can buy only one book and the other two can buy 2 books

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Minimum cost = Minimum price paid by all friends Minimum cost = Number of books x lowest price Minimum cost = 2x45 +2x50 +1x65+1x70+1 x 100 Minimum cost = ???
