OpenStudy (sbuck98):

Someone help me complete these, If I don't I'll recieve a 0 and it wills top me from graduating, I currently have a 65, and need to get my grade up to a C.

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

@robtobey

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

this poligon is inside a 7x6 units rectangle you need use the way what i have learn to you in case of your past exercise and will get the right area sure

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

@jhonyy9 I can't do this on my own

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

lthe grid enclosed in a rectangle the polygon is 7*6=42 . when putting the triangle in a rectangle you have four right triangles. Find the area of the triangles and subtract the area of the four right triangles from the area of the rectangle.

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I just don't get how to count all of them since they're not full squares.

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

they still count even if they arent full squares

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

using rise/run

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

could you step me through this?

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

yeah sure

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

So for the pink 4, and 5 which would be 4*5/2?

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

so now using rise/run name the coordinates for the triangles

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

yes so for that one it would be 5*4/2 = 10 the area for the pin triangle is 10 now the other 3 triangles

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

purple, 6*2/2=6

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

ok 2 more

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I'm not sure how to do the red and green.

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

ok the red rise over run so looking at the red it goes up 5 and over 1

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

5*1/2=2.5

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

Are you starting to understand it?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

yes

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

Now what do I do?

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

ok so for the green triangle it is up 1 over 2 2*1/2=1

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

Now the area of the triangles are 6,10,1,2.5

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

so 42-19.5=22.5

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

Now to find the area of the polygon we subtract the area of the triangles by the area of the rectangle which is 42

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

42-6-10-1-2.5=

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

22.5

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

22.5 units squared correct

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

Thank you, if I tag you would you mind just supervising over me doing the problems incase I mess up? @Izzy18970

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

yeah sure

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

glad to help

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

it showed it was incorrect:(

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

22.5

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

did you plug in 22.5

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

yes:(

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

I plugged it in and I got it correct

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

I did the same one as you and it said correct

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

its still showing incorrect:((

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

are you allowed to look at the hints?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

yes

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

check the first hint what does it say?

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

Do you want to log in on mine and see if it's just my computer?

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

I think it is just your computer I

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

It said correct

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

will you try and log in on mine?

OpenStudy (izzy18970):

ok

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

it keeps showing incorrect

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I messaged it to you
