OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did u read the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

whats the formula for area of a circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A≈2463.01

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

A = pi * r^2 A = 22/7 * 14^2 A = 22/7 * 196 A = 615.9999

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whats the first step i do to solve the question

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

radius is half the diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

start by writing formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A≈2463.01?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no...area of circle A = pi * r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok the formula is A = pi * r^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

then write pi = 22/7 r = d/2....r = 28/2 = 14 now sub into the formula A = 22/7 * 14^2 A = 22/7 * 196 A = 615.9999

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so step 1 is A = pi * r^2 and second is pi = 22/7 r = d/2....r = 28/2 = 14?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

ur listing what u know...pi = 22/7 and the other...d stands for diameter and r stands for radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what do i do for the first step im so confuised

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

write formula.....A = pi * r^2 write what u are subbing in....pi = 22/7 r (radius)....r = d/2...ur circle shows d = 28....so 28/2 = r...14 = r. then just sub into the formula and do the math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pls help

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Steps: 1. Write the formula for the area of a circle of radius r: A=pi*r^2 2. Determine the radius of this circle, given the diameter 3. Write out the formula for the area of the circle, subst. the given info: A = pi ( r )^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is ithe raiduis in the middle like the number in the middle?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes (although you need to spell it "radius").
