16-18!
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
That's a good start, we also have
16 - 18
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
Okay, now, since this is a positive number, all of the factors can also be negative since negative times negative is positive
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay..
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
so, can any of those numbers add or subtract to be 2?

no.
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
Look closer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I don't think so.. -16-18 isn't, 16-18 doesn't multiply to 288
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
whoops, you're rigt
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok good I was like.. I'm confuzzled

Do you have an equation for this?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well I'm trying to factor 9x^2-2x+32
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The RS table doesn't work
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
Where did 288 come from?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
my teacher wants us to multiply 9 and 32

oh
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to get number to multiply to and use the middle one for the number we add to
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
Putting it into a calculator, it is not factorable
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well, it says the answer is (9x+16)(x-2)
not sure how they got that..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
eh, I'll ask him. Thanks

:D
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
That isn't right, because for +32 on the end to be positive, both numbers in the factor have to be positive
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hmm....
I'll ask him if the book got it wrong maybe. Ya, it doesn't make sense..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thank you
