so "the violinist" is actually an appositive phrase, or an extra, which means it doesn't need to be there for the sentence makes sense. Since you already know that the person's name is Sharon Day, you don't need to know that she's a violinist in order to know who she is. When there's phrases like this, you offset them with commas. For example- My brother, the soccer player, is really annoying. Hope that helps.
