MEDALLL What would happen if we didn't have the protein actin? Pls help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actin plays a role in cell movement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actin filaments associate with the proteins that control muscle contractions within the cell so, my guess would be that the cellar movement couldn't work.

OpenStudy (globalbiomaniac):

If we didn't have actin; Then cell division won't take place as it helps in cytokinesis in animal cells; We will become prone to infections as it helps in leukocyte extravasation or rather say movement of wbc across tissues to fight infections. It also helps in movement of embryonic cells during development and intracellular transport of movement of organelles. It also helps in endocytosis so again immunity and communications between cells will be affected.
