OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

How might Soviets have viewed American segregation laws in the American South? as hypocritical because the U.S. criticized the Soviet Union for limiting individual rights as a fair way of maintaining the social order in society during the Cold War era as a byproduct of the ongoing Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviets as a violation of personal freedom because the Soviets sought to promote individualism

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

I think it's A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Soviets (Though not particularly each one person) were communist. that being said, we can eliminate D because Communism promotes singularity, not individualism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Segregation laws in the South were not a product of the cold war. they were there before the cold war. so C is out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd say you are correct in your choice!

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Why was Sputnik so significant to both the Soviets and the Americans? It led to increased competition in athletics. It fostered cooperation between the U.S. and USSR. It showed how nuclear missiles would travel in space. It prompted a race to see who could reach space first. I think it's B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sputnik was a cornerstone in an event known as the "Space Race" She was a low orbit sattelite and one of the first to be launched.

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

so C or D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It can't have been B. The cold war, which was between the US and Soviets/communists hindered cooperation between the two nations and caused rivalry. Since the US wanted to win the "War" they were forced to race the Soviets in the space world. Sputnik wasn't nessecarily anything to do with Nuclear Missiles, but more in space science!

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

so c or d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not C because it was not a nuclear campaign. D is the best answer. First Sputnik, then it was a race to see who could get a cosmonaut/astronaut in space first, then to the moon first.

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Which of the following Cold War practices likely had the most significant psychological impact on citizens? embargos duck and cover drills travel restrictions building armories I think this one is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree. that one could cause PTSD for some people and it caused a growing fear that the Soviets or Cubans were going to destroy America

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Do you mind if I keep telling you what I think they are cause I just want to make sure I have them all right before I'm done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem!

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Thank you I just didn't want to keep going and you be like whaaa?? loll

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't mind. Here to help!

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Why did the United States involve itself in a civil dispute on the Korean peninsula in the 1950s? to obtain an economic foothold in the region to exercise the policy of containment to protect Koreans from Japanese imperialism to exercise the policy of détente I think this one is D not sure though Why did Cuba partner with the Soviet Union during the Cuban Missile Crisis? The Soviet Union had previously supported Castro's attempts to promote communism in the Americas. Cuba desired to build a more friendly relationship with the United States since it was a Cold War super power that was geographically near to Cuba. The Cuban government believed it could open up trade and tourism and build the economy with support from other communist nations. The Soviet Union pursued an imperialistic relationship with Cuba in which the Soviets would rule and provide protection to a colonized Cuba. I think this one is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one is not correct. Cuba is a communist country and so was Soviet. I would say the answer for that one is A because A communist will partner and help with a communist. a free man will not partner with an opressor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the other I have to go. sorry. Good luck!

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Okay thank you

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

Which was not a principle that Jawaharial Nehru and Ghandi would have supported? unity democracy modernization religious fundamentalism Power over the island nation of Cyprus is disputed by Greece and Italy Greece and Turkey Turkey and Israel Egypt and Israel An effect of Gamal Abdel Nasser's rule in Egypt was spreading of Pan-Arabism in the Middle East democracy in the Middle East religious fundamentalism communism in the Middle East
