OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

Let's find X shall we?

OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

Do you know how to evaluate/substitute x for a number?

OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

Nope

OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

id love to learn

OpenStudy (dayakar):

i'll give u simple example 2(a+4) = 2a+ 2*4 do the same open the brackets first

OpenStudy (dayakar):

do u understand

OpenStudy (dayakar):

respond for any one otherwise it's waste of time

OpenStudy (phi):

this problem is a bit complicated if you have not learned how to solve equations. usually you practice with first solving something like x+ 2 = 4

OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

Sorry, I was in Maths. and alright

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know how to solve x+2= 4 ?

OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

Yup, X=2

OpenStudy (phi):

you can "see" the answer is 2. But do you know the "steps" ? you want "x" by itself, and if you have x+2 you can get rid of the 2 by adding -2 because x+ 2 + -2 becomes x+0 and that becomes x but to keep things equal , we have to "do the something to the other side" x+2 = 4 x+ 2 + -2 = 4 + -2 now simplify both sides x+0 = 2 x= 2

OpenStudy (phi):

the next equation to know is 2x + 2 = 4 what are the steps? (the answer is not important, it's the steps) what is the first step ?

OpenStudy (cicilybailey14):

To find x?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, what is the first step? you should try to first get rid of the +2
