Which statement about Victorian culture is reflected in this excerpt from "Ulysses" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson? Tho' much is taken, much abides; and though We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are-- One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

OpenStudy (emmanuel77m):

A. The Victorians believed in the value of hard work. B. The Victorians were very heroic by nature. C. The Victorians believed that fate controlled their destiny. D. The Victorians had the time and money to travel to new places.

OpenStudy (naenae17):

They believed in the value of hard work, as they said "Tho' much is taken, much abides" & "strength...Moved earth and heaven". Here, "Abides" is a word that means "remains." Victorians were not heroic by nature, but they admired heroism and revered brave men and women.
