They both are negative. Which makes the opposite. So lets say, 6 is bigger than 1. But -6 is less than one. because on a number line, it goes below zero. So if you had to compare between -6 and -1, -1 would be greater because it is closer to 0.

So when both numbers are negative, the closest one to 0 is the biggest one. With that said, which do you think is greater? -4.6 _ -1.6?
