Who here thinks that songs coming from the band scene typically has a deeper meaning than most other mainstream genres like rap, pop, country, etc? If so does the meaning connect with you on a personal level? Why or why not? Name a band or artist who's music connects with you more. I ask these questions to get a better connection with new people who want to listen or who are interested in listening to my music.

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

I think it just depends on the person and there mood during that time :) there is always a song from various artist for different moods and times :) well if that makes sense :P

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

Take Sleeping with Sirens and compare their song The Strays with any of Lil Wayne or Eminem song.

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

Whether it may be an alt song, country, rap, metal, whatever, music is an artistic exhaust pipe for musicians to vent their emotions through. For example, in "Mockingbird" by Eminem, he expresses how he felt when his ex-wife left him, and he couldnt see his kids. He has many songs like that. Also, what a song can mean to a listener doesnt need a genre.

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

I personally think people are not understanding what I mean by the question. I'm not saying that rap country or whatever doesn't have a meaning. Never once said that a Eminem song didn't have a deep meaning. I said compare it. The reason I asked the question is so I can get a better understanding for what people think when comparing the band scene to all the other music genres. So please do not respond until you read the question and understand it please.

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

And I'm telling you it's all about perspective. Some people use certain songs in relationships, others relate it to their lifestyle. Sometimes people use music in general to cope with life struggles. Also, you asked people whether the music coming from the "band" scene, which I guess is referring to alt. rock, punk rock, etc. have more meaning to them than other genres of music. This is not the same as comparing one genre to another. This is a yes or no question. So please, proofread your opinion-based questions before posting them, then telling others that their opinions don't properly answer your question.

Are you a moderator @AllAmericanViking?

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

No, but I am a music therapy major.

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

Yeah I'm also a teacher major. I know rather or not people are moderators but I was just making sure. Don't comment on a post unless you understand what they mean. I didn't mean to put it in that phrasing. So I took it down. So word of advice if you don't understand what they're saying then ask what they mean by the post.

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

Also a therapist is not a know it all for the record. A therapist actually doesn't do much talking at all. A therapist just asks questions and listens to what the patient is saying. So if your gonna be a musical therapist or a therapist in general you need to keep that in mind.

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

I never said they were. However by majoring in music therapy I have to becoming fully educated in both music and psychology. I didn't do it because I want to be a know it all, know it all's don't pay the bills. I want to help people. But that's besides the point. You put up a post in hopes that you can get an answer. However, when you posted it presented an entirely different question then the one you needed answered. It's not because I didn't understand your question that I answered the question "wrong", but rather the fact you worded it to look like it was a different question, which in the English language is extremely easy to do. So don't say I didn't understand your post. I understood perfectly. You simply wrote it, well, weird.

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

Your comment is not helping your argument. Also as a psychologist you should stop commenting because I dropped it.

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

lol ok, whatever you say pal

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

For someone who wants to be a therapist of any kind you don't know how to drop anything do you?

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

Also please don't call me pal. I have enough nicknames on this site and I don't need anymore to keep up with.

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

What does being a therapist have to do with dropping things?

OpenStudy (allamericanviking):

And I honestly dont understand, if you're so done with this argument, then why dont you close the question?

OpenStudy (a_burning_masquerade):

1. Wow 2. A therapist will often come across a question that involves letting go of things. Which in some cases (like this one) also means dropping an issue. A person who's a psychology major of any kind (including musical therapist) should know and have already learned that in Psychology 101. It's basic therapy. 3. I did close the question. Like a day ago. Did you not see my three posts today (I had three because someone kept starting old drama so I had to keep closing the posts. So just stop. I had to take a psych class to go to the classes I need to become a teacher. Two actually. I still have one more I have to do. But I know enough to back up my argument.

If you really wanted to stop getting triggered over some kind of pissing contest that is leading to literally nowhere, you would stop posting on this chat.
