its asking ordered pairs to be put in this is impossible

OpenStudy (pphalke):

OpenStudy (cecil_the_weasel):

Set x equal to the x-value in the ordered pair and if it equals the y-value of that same ordered pair, then it is a solution.

OpenStudy (pphalke):

howwww???

OpenStudy (cecil_the_weasel):

For example: If you have the ordered pair (2, 7) and the equation y=5x+4, you would replace the x with the x-coordinate, 2, and the y with the y-coordinate, 7. You would end up with 7=5(2)+4 or 7=14. Well, 7≠14 so it is not a solution. However, take the ordered pair (-2,-6) and do the same. -6=5(-2)+4. You get -6=-6. The ordered pair (-2,-6) IS part of the solution.
