Help! Will give fan A pair of equations is shown below: y = 3x − 5 y = 6x − 8 Part A: Explain how you will solve the pair of equations by substitution or elimination. Show all the steps and write the solution. (5 points) Part B: If the two equations are graphed, at what point will the lines representing the two equations intersect? Explain your answer. (5 points) Here's what I have: Part A: y=3x-5 y=6x-8 3x-5=6x-8 (subtract 5 by both sides) 3x=6x+3

hey there :)

OpenStudy (iconforhire56):

hey thanks for trying to help its really important

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

why would u subtract 5 from both sides? Wouldn't it be add 5 to both?

OpenStudy (iconforhire56):

I don't think so but ill try that rn

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

should go to 3x-3

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

for substitution we can just keep trying to put numbers into x and if both of the equations becomes the same answer than we have succeeded, for example , I tried 1 in the x spot, so x=1 and 3(1)-5 is -2, 6(1)-8 is -2 as well, so we have succeeded in the substitution method

OpenStudy (iconforhire56):

I know the answer is (-2,1) I just need to figure out how to do the equation. (I don't like googling answers for every test)

OpenStudy (iconforhire56):

okay now I have 3x=6x-13 Do I subtract six by both sides?

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

nope u subtract 6x from both

OpenStudy (iconforhire56):

i have -3x=13 do i divide now?
