Which sentence is punctuated correctly? A. You could say one gallon equals: 4 quarts, 8 pints, or 16 cups. B. My sister has three favorite pastimes: surfing, sewing, and reading. C. His coworkers are: Charlotte, Jada, Brandon, Summer, and Arthur. D. The children gathered these items for the campfire sticks, logs, and marshmallows.
What do you think? Which ones can you definitely eliminate?
b and D
Definitely not D. xD
For D to be correct the sentence would have to say, " The children gathered sticks, logs, and marshmallows for the campfire."
Sounds good so far, those don't make sense to me either
i sat A
*say
I would go with A or B. I'm unsure, so I think you should see what @ONYXxELITE says. I know it's definitley not C or D.
I would go with B, but I'm not positive.
then its A @ONYXxELITE said B is wroung
*sigh* the only one that NEEDS a colen is D, because it has the word THIS in it... Which tells you something is about to be listed
@Yinshy When did he say B was wrong?
i said B and D are wroung and he said that sounded right
I think he thought you meant it could be either B or D. Which is why he responded with saying D was wrong, but I could be mistaken.
@ONYXxELITE help!!!!!!!!
D is definitely wrong, it's between the first three
@ShadowLegendX We already established C and D are wrong.
I just got here
How is C wrong?
@Yinshy Here is an example I found online: "There are basically two ways to write: with a pen or pencil, which is inexpensive and easily accessible; or by computer and printer, which is more expensive but quick and neat." With this example, B seems to be correct.
That's a semicolon, not a colon
The type we're dealing with, is when a colon helps the sentence be able to "list" things
@ShadowLegendX "There are basically two ways to write: with a pen or pencil" Colon...
