OpenStudy (breegan):

What were some of the advantages of the North over the South during the Civil War?

OpenStudy (breegan):

FAN AND MEDAL!

OpenStudy (okdutchman7):

The North had more people, factories that could produce weapons, better railroads and more telegraph lines

OpenStudy (theyankee):

The north had more soldiers to draft in. They also had a pre-established command structure within their military, and funding for rations and supplies. The confederates had to throw together an army with little to no experience within a few months- they had no pre gathered supplies, nor much direction on how to run a government, never the less a military! Also, the north had relationships with outside countries like france and england, so they had places to borrow money and discounted supplies from. So, in short, the north had more soldiers, more experience, more funding and more outward support. However- the confederates did hold some things morally over the union. CSA had more spirit, more tenacity and a less tyrannical goal in mind (states rights.) Most confederate soldiers were volunteers. Hope this helps!
