Determine which ordered pair is a solution of y = -5x + 10 I don't understand this unit and was wondering if someone could help explain it to me better and help? I'll fan and medal (:

OpenStudy (peachpi):

A solution of y = -5x + 10 will be any ordered pair (x, y) that makes the equation true. (basically all the ordered pairs the line passes through when you graph it are solutions.) For example, test to see if (3, -5) is a solution by plugging in 3 for x and -5 for y. y = -5x + 10 -5 = -5(3) + 10 -5 = -15 + 10 -5 = -5 This is true, so (3, -5) is a solution to y = -5x + 10 Now test (6, 1) y = -5x + 10 1 = -5(6) + 10 1 = -30 + 10 1 = -20 This is false, so (3, -5) is not a solution to y = -5x + 10

@peachpi thank you! That helped a lot my teachers have been out for testing so I couldn't really ask them once again thank you
