OpenStudy (nampa):

When they ask, "Suppose you roll a standard cube once. Are rolling a 4 and a 3 mutually exclusive?" Are they asking whether or not it's hard to for it to land on just those two numbers or could it be talking about every number. I have my answer already, I'm just a little confused on how it's worded.

I feel kinda dumb asking this, but i'm an easily confused person....

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`Are rolling a 4 and a 3 mutually exclusive?` is the same as asking `is it possible to roll a 4 AND a 3 at the same time on the same number cube?`

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well I guess the two aren't exactly 100% equivalent but they're very similar ideas since it's NOT possible to roll a 4 AND a 3 at the same time on the same cube, this means the two events are mutually exclusive. If one event happens, then the other cannot happen.

OpenStudy (nampa):

Oh, okay. I wasn't entirely sure one what it was asking, but I had the correct answer after all. Thanks for helping me!

you're welcome
