The rectangle below has an area of x^2-16 square meters and a width of x+4 meters. What expression represents the length of the rectangle?
options plz.
this is the whole problem
Area of rectangle is length*width. Area = length*width Therefore, Area/length = width
So it's width = Area/length width = (x^2 - 16)/(x+4) I substituted the given information into the formula
so it would be x^3-16 x+4
Do you understand what I did so far? width = (x^2 - 16)/(x+4)
oh i see, I multiplied instead of dividing. x-4

Yes the width would be x-4. You take apart x^2 - 16 into (x+4)(x-4). Good job
thank you so much
You're welcome
