What is the relationship between the following angles? 1,7 2,8 3,8

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how far did you get with this?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

were you able to determine the relationship between angle 1 and angle 7 ? @study.geek.123

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

No

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

I got 1 and 3 4 and 8 5 and 6

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what's the relationship between 1 and 3?

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

But I'm having diffuculty on these 3

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

vertical angles

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep, how about 4 and 8?

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

corresponding angles

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good finally what about 5 and 6?

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

linear pair or supplementary angles

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

very nice

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

I feel like 1 and 7 are exterior angles?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so I'm not sure if this is in your list of notes or not, but angle 1 and angle 7 are congruent because they are `alternate exterior angles` and because line l is parallel to line m https://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/alternate-exterior-angles.html I recommend you play with the interactive tool on that website to see all the various pairs of angles

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

oh yeah I remember that sorry im studying for finals in a math class thats 2-3 years above my grade level so im having a bit difficulty remembering this

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

thanks

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how about the relationship between angle 2 and angle 8?

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

alternate interior

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how about angle 3 and angle 8?

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

consecutive interior

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct, another term for that is `same side interior angles`
