How to round to the nearest 0.25? MEDAL!!!
would you now multiply by 4, round, then divide by 4? for example, round 1.15 to the nearest 0.25 1) 1.15 x 4 = 4.6 2) round 4.6 to the nearest whole number (5) 3) 5 / 4 = 1.25 1.15 rounds to 1.25
@jim_thompson5910
You're actually suppose to round to the nearest quarter? That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.... Are you sure you aren't suppose to round to the nearest tenth or something?
yep 1.15 rounds to 1.25, nice work
thanks :)
You can think of it in terms of a number line. let's plot the values 1 and 1.25 |dw:1464140606646:dw|
the midpoint is (1+1.25)/2 = 1.125 |dw:1464140689285:dw|
1.15 will go between 1.125 and 1.25 |dw:1464140720416:dw|
can you help me with a small question in science? it's nothing much: so a ball is released from the same point and we are measuring how far the ball is moving a cup. there are three trials, where the mass of the ball is the same and the mass of the cup is the same. but if you do it three times, then you will see that the distance that the cup has moved is not the same. what are two reasons for why this is the case? 1) human error 2) ? i can't think of the 2nd one. is it like wind pressure in the room?
since 1.15 is beyond the midpoint on the right side, it's closer to 1.25 than it is to 1.00 so that's a visual way to see how 1.15 rounds to 1.25
human error and maybe the measuring instruments aren't that accurate or they haven't been calibrated properly
ok thanks :)
