OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

How do you get each number on your ss to go up?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Every little thing you do on OpenStudy can increase your smartscore. It's how well you do these things to increase it. There's no fast easy way to increase it. It takes times. For the problem solving portion, you must answer questions not only in detail, but guiding the user to understanding the problem. Giving direct answers is not only not allowed, but it doesn't even help the user understand anything. Plus, direct answers don't increase your smartscore as fast as answering in detail would. Teamwork! One thing people consider to be somewhat hard to do. By gaining fans as well as fanning users, you are then increasing your smartscore even more! The more fans you earn, the higher you go. But be aware that creating accounts to fan yourself doesn't increase your smartscore by much. Also, it's not allowed and could lead to your main account being suspended forever. You best bet would be to enter chats, as well as help out a lot. Lastly we have engagement. Here is the fun part, when you ask questions you're increasing your smartscore! Isn't that cool? You can increase your smartscore just by making threads you need help on! Not to mention the amount of medals you earn and give out can help increase it faster! But keep in mind, spamming yourself with medals isn't allowed on here and will not increase your smartscore fast at all. Another thing about engagement is that the longer you're on here, the higher your smartscore goes too! It's as if almost everything on here will increase your smartscore. It can be fun and I hope you find it very fun too. I hope you have the best time on OpenStudy and good luck with the journey on here. c: ~beccaboo333

You’ll notice in the new profile pages there is a graph to display the progress of your SmartScore for the past few weeks. This represents your overall SmartScore which is currently comprised of your scores in the three categories we’ve decided to focus upon (for now): Teamwork - Which focuses upon your willingness and aptitude to communicate and interact with others in group settings, very small groups like those that are formed within a question and large groups like all users studying mathematics. You interact in chat, but your actions within questions -- asking, answering, helping, guiding are considered more heavily as they are core the principles of the site Problem Solving - The ability to identify a situation/question to which you are willing to exert your own effort to construct a coherent, thoughtful, and respectfully toned solution to the benefit of another and even yourself. Engagement - which focuses primarily upon the actions and effort you exert in your own questions that you have asked because you want to learn a new concept and your willingness to interact with people who are helping you. You’re surely wondering what each variable actually means in the category boxes. Below are the descriptions. Keep in mind, these are not all the variables that we are analyzing. There’s a lot more to the score, and we’ll keep you informed about the progress.

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

So am i allowed to make a chat saying to fan me?

Mehek (mehek14):

It's best to earn them, mostly by helping.

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

ok

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

And how does the sight now if i gave a detailed explanation or just gave the answer?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Fans and medals are earned, not asked for.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

The length of the reply. There is a huge difference between a 1-2 letter reply or a 3+ sentence reply.

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

so if i was just do this? bjbjbkbkjbbbhxnb it would work? not that im gonna do it

Mehek (mehek14):

That's not an explanation XD

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

yeah ik lol... but whats to keep someone from doing it?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

You wouldn't get medals, fans, testimonials, and that is considered spam. So its better to give a good explanation and help the user answer his/her question.

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

Ok... one last question does anyone have a ss over 100?

Mehek (mehek14):

100 is the highest and only 1 person can have it

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

why only 1 person?

Mehek (mehek14):

Currently, @satellite73 has it.

Mehek (mehek14):

The user with 100 has the most points out of everyone else

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

doesnt make since why anyone can have it

OpenStudy (devonhoward15):

well im done thanks

Mehek (mehek14):

yw :)
