If you have not been introduced to the reference Gray's Anatomy, here's a link online for the 1918 edition. On the other hand, later editions (available from libraries) are revised and updated versions that give better descriptions. Here are some excerpts from the work that might help you. Feel free to peruse the online book and explore. Bone markings are features of bones, such as articular surfaces, facets, condyles, trochlea, fossae, process, spine, tubercle (tuberosity), hamulus, cornu, crest, lips, line, foramen, canal, sulcus, incisura, hiatus, lamina..... More detailed descriptions of each of the features can be found at the following link:. http://www.bartleby.com/107/17.html and, in particular, for phalanges, http://www.bartleby.com/107/pages/page230.html
