Look, I need the steps on how to do 7-10 I will lose my grade please help me
Okay, first things first: do you know what the U and upside-down U mean?
no not really
U means union — the set of everything that appears in any of those sets. \[\{1,2\} \cup \{3,4\} = \{1,2,3,4\}\]
\(\cap\) means intersection — the set of only those things which appear in both sets \[\{1,2\}\cap\{1,2,3,4\} = \{1,2\}\]
So, you know that \[A = \{1,2,3,4\}\]\[C = \{1,3,5,7,9\}\]what is \[A\cup C=\]
it is the set of every member which occurs in either A or C. Will you list all of those values as a set, please?
A U C I don't know
What are the members of set A? What are the members of set C? Make a list that combines them.
how do I do that
Look at my posting from a few minutes ago, where I wrote "A = {..." Those numbers inside the { } are the members of set A. Write them down on a piece of paper. Now look at the next line of that post, where I wrote "C = {..." Write those numbers down on the same piece of paper, except if the number already is present, you do not need to write it again. You now have a list of all of the members of A and C, which is the answer for problem 7, when written as a set.
is it supposed to be a number for the answer? if so then 9
@whpalmer4
What is the list that you made by following those instructions?
you mean the question one? I don't know
I told you to do a number of steps. Did you do anything?
