How are citizens and noncitizens alike?
@AlexaTiger
They are both people and guaranteed certain rights in the US under the Constitution.
ok next! Why does legal citizenship matter? What benefits do legal citizens have that others do not?
They can get SS and a SS number; legal citizenship matters because it helps keep a census of people and sense of belonging.
What benefits do legal citizens have that others do not?
SS, healthcare, license, national protection.
ok next! What are the rules for citizenship by birth?
Be born on US soil and you're a citizen XD
um, isnt there more steps?
like can you put them all in order please?
It's easy to be a citizen by BIRTH, ( you might be thinking about naturalization).
You can have an illegal momma but still be a citizen.
He couldv'e had so many medals if you didn't stick them all in one thread. :o
If you are born outside of the country and one of your parents is a US Citizen, then you are automatically a citizen. If you are born on any of the territories (ex. Hawaii, Puerto Rico etc.) you are a US citizen by birth. You are also a US citizen by birth if you're born on a US military base.
What are the four steps of the naturalization process? In order to be naturalized, an applicant must first be qualified to apply for citizenship. Then, he or she must complete an application, attend an interview, and pass an English and a civics test. Upon successful completion of these steps, the applicant takes an oath of loyalty, and becomes a citizen.
