OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

PLEASE CHECK MY ANSWER HELP WILL MEDAL AND FAN FIND THE AREA OF THIS KITE

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

I think it's A I'm not sure

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

The kite is made of four separate triangles

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

so find the area of one of those triangles and multiply that by four

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

u would have noticed that all the four triangles have the same area

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

How do I do this with only 2 numbers? @Prathamesh_M

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

the two numbers are the base and height of the triangle

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

Okay I multiply those correct?

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

u might have noticed that all four triangles are right angled

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

he area of a triangle is half times base times height

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

hope that helped!!

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

I did 8 * 8 and 4 *4.. that gave me 128 when Ii divide it by 2 i get 64.

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

no thats wrong u have to do \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(base)(height)\]

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

now substitute the base and the height in that expression

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

Okay so do I multiply 4 * 8 and divide that by 2?

OpenStudy (icecreamprincess):

I hope I'm not interupting you both but don't you find the area of a rhombus by first by first finding the length of both diagonals and then multiply them and divide that answer by 2?

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

That's what I thought. I'm doing something wrong apparently

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

yeah u can do that as well @IcecreamPrincess i hadn't thought of it

OpenStudy (icecreamprincess):

i think you would first multiply 4*8 and u would get 32 and then divide that by 2 and you would get 16

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

Tthat doesn't give any of my answer choices

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

yup that would be the area of one triangle

OpenStudy (prathamesh_m):

u forgot to multiply it by 4

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

16?

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

Yes, and that gives me A like I thought it was initially

OpenStudy (icecreamprincess):

yes

OpenStudy (helppleasethanks11):

Thank you <3

OpenStudy (icecreamprincess):

np :)
