Don't get this
OpenStudy (kinged):
Let's just imagine putting some numbers.
For example, 10 cherries cost 10 dollars.
Did you get it?
OpenStudy (amtran_bus):
Certainly.
OpenStudy (kinged):
Then how much does 40 cherries using these imagined numbers?
OpenStudy (kinged):
How do they cost?

c cherries cost d dollars
we have this ratio
c cherries : d dollars
divide both expressions by 'c' to get
c/c cherries: d/c dollars
which simplifies to
1 cherry: d/c dollars
this means 1 cherry costs d/c dollars
does that make sense so far?
OpenStudy (amtran_bus):
Oh! I have not thought of it that way. Sure does!
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
from there I'm sure you can see how 50 costs 50*(d/c) = 50d/c
OpenStudy (amtran_bus):
Sure enough! Thanks a million!
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
no problem
