Two minutes of help[ - I'll take some of the poetic language out
Ere = before
1. Before they burned our city
before they killed our people (or soldiers)
a general named the Dragon forced them
but the generals are panicked by comething.
Zeus -- he hates people who brag --
Zeus saw that army
Acting like they already won
Zeus hit them (? not sure, symbolic of something, maybe a storm or a sneak attack)

mad as hell
almost fell. Somewhere else in the battle,
lots of fighting;
lots of fighting
