Hey! I have some tips for studying that helped me through my first year of college if you need help! I also have tips about how to lower costs for college :)
Why hello there! All throughout my first year at college I had trouble financially, as to be expected. Typically, students will plan for the expected costs; Tuition Books Housing A lot of the time, the college freshman will forget about the food. Yes, the food, and especially during the first few weeks, since the students will be getting acclimated to their new life, they'll splurge on food, out of habit, and pure lack of thought of how expensive the next few years will be. Hidden costs; Parking (If you have a car, which I don't recommend for college) Laundry Travel costs unexpected events that come up Sports/any school event Joining a frat or sorority Clubs Moving or finding storage for your stuff Wardrobe If you have questions about any of these, shoot me a message, or simply ask it in the comments :) Now, for the studying tips!
Studying tips that helped me tremendously! 1. Take Cornell Style notes While they may be time consuming, it allows you to refer to your notes time and time again, effectively. http://coe.jmu.edu/learningtoolbox/cornellnotes.html 2. Find a study group Online, in person, with anyone will help. Just finding a group of people to work is psychologically proven to have its benefits. It helps the student feel more at ease and less tense when they're able to work with others. It helps when you share classes with them, or create a chat page with them, to send each other reminders of what's coming up. 3. Have an organized schedule While this may not seem like a study tip, it is. Being organized and having proper time management is very important to any school. Setting time aside for homework and studying is the key to passing your classes, no matter what class it is, review the notes, or what was done in the class. Don't unexpectedly go to a party or start drinking (Not encouraging drinking, but it does happen) and worry about the consequences later. 4. Stick to a routine To help with concentration, don't differ from your daily routine too terribly much, it can effect your focus while studying. One thing should change, how you're conducting the studying. If you've been standing, sit down, if you've been sitting, walk around. Change the location, every once in a while. Avoid daydreaming as much as possible, continuously ask yourself about what you're studying. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! :)
