Which pronoun best completes the sentence? How is the pronoun used? Is that __________ in line at the cash register? A. she; subject B. her; subject C. her; predicate nominative D. she; predicate nominative
@sammixboo
hi
Ah, you did it! Let's strike out two choices by figuring out if we want to use she or her. Do you know which one we should use in the blank?
her
Correct. 'Is that her in line at the cash register?" Sounds better than, "Is that she in line at the cash register?" Now we have to decide if it is a subject, or a predicate nominative. A subject is something in the sentence telling you what the sentence is a bout. For example, "My DOG is being very happy today!" The word 'dog' is our subject! A predicate nominative is always at the end of linking verb, but it does restate the noun in the sentence. For example, "This apple is a fruit." The fruit is the predicate nominative
So this question an easily confuse you, since a subject and a predicate nominative are similar. What do you think the aswer is?

And in the sentence "an apple is a fruit", the word 'fruit' is the predictive nominative, because it restates the subject 'apple'.
