11. PLEASE HELP Nancy tossed a coin and it landed heads up three times in a row. What is the probability that this same coin will land heads up the next time she tosses it? A. 1/16 B. 0 C. 1 D. 1/2 D maybe?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Each toss is independent of any other toss. This means that even if you get 100 million heads in a row (very very unlikely), the next toss is still 50/50 of getting heads or tails.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The coin has no "memory" of past events, so it doesn't alter its probability like an example where a basketball player performs better based on previous good results. Anyways, there is one side that has "heads" out of 2 sides total. I'm sure at this point you probably already have the answer

OpenStudy (kimie):

Thank you! Ill put D :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes it's 1/2
