i chose article 1 4 and 5 @Jadeishere
i have a little bit of an idea how to do it i have that the purges were brutal and inhumane
Part \[1\] Article 1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Article 4. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. Article 5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Part \[2\] What are some of the obstacles to enforcing and realizing these articles? What are the benefits of an international agreement to address the issue(s)? Kay, since you've gotten part 1 down, we can work on part 2! What are some obvious things that could get in the way of these articles actually becoming "realized"?
umm the purges?
because many innocent people were executed
Well, not even that. Let's specifically talk about Article 1. What's the overall focus of this Article?
that all humans are born free and equal and that everyone should treat each other with respect and brotherhood and no one can take that right away.
Exactly :) So, what would be a major obstacle in getting people to know and understand this Article? How would it be difficult to accept others as equal to them?
the fear of being killed by their dictator in case he suspects them of being his enemy or rival for power?
I have a question, this is all in relation to Stalin?
yes
Ohhh, okay, now your answer make more sense, so sorry. Kay let's get this rolling now that I understand a lot better! So in a dictatorships, what's the primary belief of the dictator?
lol ok..um that whatever he says goes? and they tend to be cruel
sorry im taking a bit long to answer my internet keeps messing up
It's perfectly fine :) The sole purpose of maintaining a dictatorship is to prevent others from being as powerful as you. To take away their rights of freedom. Stalin was a dictator of the USSR (Soviet Union Russia)
ohh ok
Yeah, so in Article 1 a huge obstacle would be them seeing eachother as equals
okkk so i got that one down
Do you think you could try to come up with reasons for the other two? Articles 4 and 5? I'll help you decide which ones will work and which ones won't >.<
ok so for four i know staling arrested people and sent them to work camps for labor, that would be slavery right?
Yes, definitely
and he was like very cruel to them
so the cruelty would also account for five because they even mixed criminals with the slaves and they preyed on them as well
Yes, true
and the slaves died from working so much and some unpaid ones were sent to be hired by private contractors but those later turned out to be extermination camps so basically they were killed for no reason
Well, so what's an obstacle that the article would face?
a dictator that favors slavery?
Yes, very much so, very very very much so
ok so that sums up part 2
and i think i can get the third one done myself thank you so much for your help!!
No problem! You did most of the work, I just asked you questions >.< Great job and the best of luck to you!
thanks!
