What is the image of (-1, 1) after a dilation of 2? (1, 3) (-2, 2) (2, 2)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If you're referring to the origin as the center of dilation, then any point (x,y) will turn into (x*k, y*k) where k is the dilation scale factor

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

For example, if we had the point (5,7) and you dilated it with a scale factor of 10, then it would turn into (50,70) x*k = 5*k = 5*10 = 50 y*k = 7*k = 7*10 = 70 all we're doing is multiplying the coordinates by this scale factor.

OpenStudy (sasuke2131):

so the answer would be (-2,2)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Yes that is correct.

OpenStudy (sasuke2131):

thankyou
