sry i don't know but ive had this question before

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Morning hac... So, the angle is known... and the opposite side. We want to find the hypotenuse (the length of the seesaw). Do you have any ideas on how to solve given that information?

OpenStudy (luffingsails):

Try looking up the definition of the sine of an angle.

OpenStudy (blackalmaz):

. Since the maximum length of the seesaw is the hypotenuse, we can use trig to figure out the hypotenuse with only one angle and a side.Remember soh cah toa.In this case, we need to use the sin of the angle.Sin is the opposite divided by the hypotenuse.Since the angle is gonna be 40 degrees. Then, \[\sin(40)=4/c\] where c is the hypotenuse. then, \[c = 4/ \sin(40)\] sin(40) = 0.642 4/0.642 = 6.23 The maximum length of the seesaw is 6.23 meters.
