OpenStudy (day00):

Help will fan and medal!!!!!!! Which represents the greatest mass of carbon? 1 mole of carbon 1 molecule of carbon 1 atom of carbon 1 gram of carbon

OpenStudy (photon336):

Well look at it this way: a single carbon atom will have the least amount of mass. One mole of any substance has 6.02x10^23 atoms of that substance. So one mole of carbon is 6.02x10^23 atoms of carbon. So think about that. That is one big number. Now how does that relate to mass. Well 6.02x10^23 particles translates to about 12 grams So 12 grams of carbon has a lot more atoms in it than 1 gram of carbon.

OpenStudy (photon336):

Another thing: a molecule of carbon makes no sense. I'll tell you why: a molecule is when you've got a group of atoms bonded together. Remember any single element won't be a molecule. Compound is a molecule that is made up of two or more elements.

OpenStudy (photon336):

Well I guess if they said a molecule that contains carbon
