OpenStudy (krista):

The function f(x) is represented by this table of values.

OpenStudy (krista):

Match the average rates of change of f(x) to the corresponding intervals. x f(x) -5 35 -4 24 -3 15 -2 8 -1 3 0 0 1 -1 -3, -7, -8, -4 [-5,-1] [-4,-1] [-3,1] [-2,1] Please help me! ive had multipule breakdowns throughout this assignment. i have tried to do this 8 times and i cannot get it right. i will FAN and MEDAL

OpenStudy (fandude727):

So we have different intervals between each pair: (-5,-1) up to (-4,-1) interval: -5 to -4, hence, average is = (35 + 24)/2 = 59/2 (-4,-1) up to (-3,-1) interval: -4 to -3, hence, average is = (24 + 15)/2 = 39/2 (-3,-1) up to (-2,-1) interval: -3 to -2, hence, average is = (15 + 8)/2 = 23/2

OpenStudy (fandude727):

Does that help, or?

OpenStudy (krista):

do you divide 59/2? or 39/2? im sorry im afraid i still dont understand unfortunately

OpenStudy (krista):

so does -8 match the first interval?

OpenStudy (fandude727):

Yes, I believe you divide 59/2. is there by chance options to this question? it's been a long while since I have done one of these things.

OpenStudy (krista):

no, im sorry when i divide it doesnt match up to any of the answers..

OpenStudy (krista):

the options are -7 -4 -3 -8

OpenStudy (fandude727):

yeah, I see now, let me see if I can get someone who is smarter in here.

OpenStudy (krista):

okay, thank you so much for trying! if you want i can fan and medal you

OpenStudy (fandude727):

No no no. I did not help you with the problem. save it for the person who solves it.

OpenStudy (krista):

okay thanks anyways

OpenStudy (fandude727):

@hero @pooja195

OpenStudy (fandude727):

@.Sam. @imqwerty

OpenStudy (fandude727):

I am afraid I have to go, I hope you get this problem. and you get a good grade on your test/lesson.

OpenStudy (krista):

thank you so much for your time and effort

OpenStudy (fandude727):

No problem.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

First of all, please look up "average rate of change of a function on an interval," and then write out the formula here. In this formula, let a=starting value of variable x; b=ending value of x, and f(x)=function value at x. average value of function f(x) on interval [a,b]=? Please respond with the proper function.
