2x2-4x+xy-2y (2xsquare)
what is the question?
Wanting to know how to work the problem
there is no question
all you have done is given an expression, what do you want done with it
factorise?
if you look at 2x^2 -4x to facotrise this, you want to take what is common just by looking at it, you notice that 4 is in the 2 times table so you know that 2 goes into 4, meaning you can take out a factor of 2 since 2x2=4 taking out a factor of 2 would give 2(x^2 - 2x) but you can also see that x^2 is x times x and -2x is -2 times x which means they both have x in common, so we take x out as a factor too! 2x(x-2) then you do the same for the xy-2y you can see that this has a y in common, so take y out as a factor y(x-2) now you just add these together 2x(x-2)+y(x-2) from here, you can notice that they both have (x-2) in common, so if you take (x-2) out as a factor you get (x-2)(2x+y)
Thank you so much that is what I was looking for
