Elements that are poor conductors of heat and electricity and break easily are called: metals semimetals nonmetals metalloids @.Sam. @sammixboo

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Please give me the answer and explain why.

OpenStudy (aabomosalam1998):

When voltage is applied to a piece of metal, an electric current flows in it because of the delocalised electrons which are free to move. Non metals atoms are attached together via covalent bonding and covalent solids cannot conduct electricity because none of its electrons are free to move. Metalloid elements have low electrical conductivity at room temperature but its ability of conducting electricity increases with temperature. Metalloids are also known as semimetals.
