Mathematics 10 Online
OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

A bag contains 50 marbles, 10 of which are blue, 8 are red, 20 are green, and 12 are purple. Marcie takes a marble out of the bag, records the color, and returns it to the bag. How many red marbles should she expect after 500 trials? 80 100 120 200

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

@mathstudent55 please help

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

What is the probability of drawing a red marble?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

\(probability ~of~outcome= \dfrac{number~of~desired~utcomes}{total ~number~of~outcomes} \) The desired outcome is a red marble. All red marbles are desired outcomes. How many marbles are red? The total number of outcomes is the number of all marbles combined. What is the number of marbles of all colors combined?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

What is the probability of drawing a red marble? Divide the number of red marbles by the total number of marbles. What do you get?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Are you still here?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

When you get back, do the calculation above then multiply the result by 500 to get your answer.

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

500/8

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

??

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

thats 62.5

OpenStudy (jenessa_2413):

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You divided 500, the total number of marbles, by 8, the number of red marbles. Where did you read to do that? Read what I wrote above, and try again.
