idk if this would be a history question or not but PLEASE help! Monica asks the court to set aside the decision giving her ex-husband custody of their children. Would this go to a Trial Court or a Appellate Court?

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

@ILovePuppiesLol @jabez177

jabez177 (jabez177):

An appellate court, commonly called an appeals court, court of appeals (American English), appeal court (British English), court of second instance or second instance court, is any court of law that is empowered to hear an appeal of a trial court or other lower tribunal. tri·al court nounNORTH AMERICAN a court of law where cases are tried in the first place, as opposed to an appeals court.

OpenStudy (_fluffeh_):

i looked those up, but it still confuses me. How do you know whether or not its appellate or trial?

jabez177 (jabez177):

Basically Trial court gives one chance and an Appellate court doesn't.

OpenStudy (_fluffeh_):

ok

jabez177 (jabez177):

I mean appellate court gives 2

jabez177 (jabez177):

Right, @Awolflover1? :/

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

yes

OpenStudy (_fluffeh_):

so would a trial court be civil and an appellate would be criminal? or the other way around?

jabez177 (jabez177):

Other way around. :P

OpenStudy (_fluffeh_):

oh ok thank you! ^-^
