Is this correct? significant figures

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

2 is correct

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

For 3, were you supposed to put all of them in scientific notation?

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

No, they just have to be correct significant figures.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

So for C, why did you put it in scientific notation?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

I gtg, they all look correct

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Use this if you need to check your work http://www.sigfigscalculator.com/

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

@quickstudent so than i see your posted exercise and above ve wrote that 2.A and 2.B are correct - so than in case of the next exercise why not ve solved in same way ?

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Because I have to use significant figures.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so than use the way of exercise 2 A and B so than for 3/A will get 12

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok. but exercise 2. not have same text like 3. ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

with significant figures

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

3/A 5+3+4=12 why not is right,correct 12 and how you ve got 6183 ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

http://www.sigfigscalculator.com/ used this site and i got this 12 like result

OpenStudy (mathmate):

#3C \(has\) to be written in scientific notation because 350 is ambiguous as to the number of significant figures (2 or 3?). However, \(3.5\times~10^2\) makes it clear that there are two significant figures. All questions are correct, well done! :)

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (mathmate):

you're welcome! :)
