How can I calculate the Mass if I have the diameter and the weight and the length

OpenStudy (lexa):

Suppose you need 7.0m of Grade 70 tow chain, which has a diameter of /38" and weighs 2.16/kgm , to tow a car. How would you calculate the mass of this much chain?

OpenStudy (osprey):

If you've got the weight, then that's the FORCE due to gravity. F=ma, so you've got the F bit. The a bit is ACCELERATION. On the earth, that's 9.8, or about 10. So, if you DIVIDE the WEIGHT by the ACCELERATION, you'll get the MASS. m =W/g. http://perendis.webs.com
