Addition using Precision Rule 98.450 + 120.55
|dw:1473205108758:dw|
so do you just have to add them?
No, you do not.
just add another 0 at the end of 98.45 then add them
then what do you do?
omg
It's 219 if you just add them
remove all the points then add them then at the end you will but them back
after a quick google search it seems its just addition with decimals... so yeah just add them
She is just playing guys
It is hard to explain. The precision rule basically tells us that we do not know if it is actually a 0 that goes in that spot, it could be great than . I have to round my number based on that, and I am entirely confused about it.
It is technically Chemistry, but it is a statistic rule (based on what my professor told us today)
There shouldn't be any confusion, the zero is there as a temporary place holder. Just search up a calculator on google and add it up.
why do you need a link? All you do is add a 0 to the end of 120.55 and add them together.
Is this like significant figures? You see which number has the numbers after the decimal and add until there
Don't forget significant figures too
Do the least significant figures in the problem
2 + 2 = 5
since you guys can't figure it out, i'll do it in my head: 219
Exactly lol @brainzonly
Try just 219
Yes, it has to do with the signifcant figures. I know the multiplication and the division, but the addition and subtraction is VERY confusing to me @TheSmartOne
@ageta What the freak? is this like some new Common Core joke????
on it is not
WHAT!!!???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
The example he gave us in class was 23.0 + 24.23 and that would be 47.2.
*no
It's just sig figs
2+2=4!!
ohh i know what you are talking about
He took the least number of sig figs, use the two websites I provided for you :)
No it is no @brainzonly
because 23 has only one digit after the decimal spot we have to use that we use the least amount of digits after the decimal spots of the two numbers
Exactly! @TheSmartOne
No that is just a theory
What I am confused about is 98.450 +120.55 would come out to be 219, but it would have to be two degree precision?
So maybe round to 220?
Leave the zero
that's two sig figs
Would I just make it out to be 219.00? (He told us that SF had nothing to do with addition and subtraction)
|dw:1473205689861:dw| we only go 2 digits after the decimal spot
