OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

1.35 billion in scientific form?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

or rather in the expanded form? Please, explain?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

@Kainui

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I simply do 1.35 x 10^9?

OpenStudy (vjt):

What is the exact question??? Putting it into expanded form?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

yes and scientific

OpenStudy (vjt):

do you have a guess because I can't just give you the answer, then i can explain better if I know what you aren't understanding.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

my answer is for scientific: 1.35 x 10^9

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

it confused me though because if I mutiply it I get 10 places.

OpenStudy (vjt):

ok that is almost right, it should actually be 1.35 x 10^11

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Oh, is it because we add 9 zeros after 135?

OpenStudy (vjt):

yes

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Ok, just checking, I was always unsure about that!

OpenStudy (vjt):

Do you have a guess for how expanded form would be written out???

OpenStudy (vjt):

Did you figure out the expanded form yet, because never went through that.

OpenStudy (vjt):

For expanded form it would be 1,000,000,000 + 300,000,000 + 50,000,000....That way if you added it all up it would equal 1,350,000,000 (1.35 billion) I'm not exactly sure how you are being taught so there are a few other ways it could be written, depending on the way you are learning it. It could also be one billion, and three hundred fifty million Or... one billions, three one hundred millions, and one fifty million
