OpenStudy (venomblast):

True or False ? For a given linear system, we will always end up with the exact same echelon matrix no matter the choices of row operations. If true, justify your answer. If false, provide a counterexample. I am guessing false because you can end up with a row with all 0's

OpenStudy (kevin):

Can you give an example why you guess it's false?

OpenStudy (venomblast):

I don't know the answer though.

OpenStudy (kevin):

Sorry, I don't know too

OpenStudy (venomblast):

I need help!!

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

The answer is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Row_echelon_form

OpenStudy (venomblast):

that does not answer my question

OpenStudy (bobo-i-bo):

That does not answer your question, but i have enabled you to find the answer. The thing you're searching for, is whether a row echelon form is \({\bf unique}\).
