OpenStudy (tlove247):

6x+4(-3x-2)=-11-3x

OpenStudy (eswart1):

First you would have to eliminate the parentheses by multiplying 4 to each number inside them. your new equation becomes 6x-12x-18=-11-3x. Combine like terms on each side of the = sign and you get: -6x-18=-11-3x. In order to solve for x you have to have x by itself on one side of the equation so we'll add 18 to each side and get -6x = 7-3x. Still don't have x by itself so we are going to add 3 x to each side: -3x=7. This part might be tricky for some because -3x isn't -3x its actually -3*x. So we do the opposite to get x by itself and divide 3from each side and get x=73 . Depending on the instructions and whether or not they specify to write the answer as a fraction or mixed number.

OpenStudy (eswart1):

x=73 is supposed to be \[x=\frac{ 7 }{ 3 }\]
