OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

Hello guys!! I just want to make sure this is the correct answer I've picked. It's attached in the replies!!

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

OpenStudy (legomyego180):

what did you get for your value of x?

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

Welll, I didn't do any ACTUAL work, as it doesn't tell me to find the value of the integers and how to get 36. It just asks me which is the equation.

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

But if I were to find the integer's values, I would do something like the answer I chose. I just want to make sure I'm correct, since I was studying odd consecutive integers, and so I want to make sure I'm doing the same thing here.

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

@legomyego180 ???

OpenStudy (whereisthefloor):

@welshfella

OpenStudy (legomyego180):

The answer should be B as when X=10 it satisfies the equation. Im not entirely sure how they want you to do these, I just plugged random numbers in for x

OpenStudy (legomyego180):

you could solve each equation independently for x, but its kind of tedious

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

Watch "sums of consecutive integers" by Khan Academy. That's how it explains what I meant and why I picked the answer I did.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

consecutive integers means like 9,10,11 The second and 3rd numbers are obtained by adding 1 so in symbol form they are x , x+1 and x+ 2

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

I watched this video and learnt that from there https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/one-variable-linear-equations/alg1-linear-equations-word-problems/v/sum-consecutive-integers I just want to make sure that I'm learning the right thing.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Its not D x , x+2 and x+4 are consecutive EVEN or ODD numbers

OpenStudy (legomyego180):

Oh I see, I was over complicating it.

OpenStudy (legomyego180):

disregard what i told you earlier @StarfireAndRobin

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yea its simple really. the answer is a x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 36 3x + 3 = 36 3x = 33 x = 11 the numbers are 11,12 and 13.

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

Oh! Thank you for explaining. Do you know of any video that teaches me how to do this? Because I do not find a video of it on Khan Academy, only about odd integers.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Sorry i don't.

OpenStudy (starfireandrobin):

Ah, that's alright. Thank you anyways, @welshfella :)
