depends on the questions you have
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
ok one sec

@kkutie7

i haven't done that in a while! from what i remember you need you treat the number in the function as x. so if x=-4 what is y on the graph.
OpenStudy (legomyego180):
So, firstly you need to recognize that where there is a point with a hole, the function is not defined at that point, unless there is another point where there is not a hole.

From the first graph you have, this occurs at x=-3 and positive 3.
Notice the dot with the hole and the dot filled in. When looking for the values of x=-3 and x=3 you will take the y value of the filled in dot. Does that make sense?
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
yea im getting it a little @legomyego180
OpenStudy (legomyego180):
Do you know how to find the other values?
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
can u walk me through it and then i think ill be able to do the rest

OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
omg thank you so much @legomyego180
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
wait i have a question so what about like f(2) for the first question
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
if no line is there what do u do
OpenStudy (legomyego180):
For f(2) y=-3
The line is still there its just below the x-axis now

OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
i have one more questin for f(5) would it be 5.5?
OpenStudy (legomyego180):
nope just 5
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
oh ok..can i do it and then u can check my work?
OpenStudy (legomyego180):

OpenStudy (legomyego180):
Sorry I counted wrong on f(-4) it should be 4 not 5.
Other than that it looks good. You can calculate the value of h(4) and h(5) by finding the slop of the line.
h(4) would be 12 and h(5) would be 15 because your slope (rise / run) is 3/1.
OpenStudy (pflori1234_pop):
ok thanks...i have one more topic that i dont get at all :(
