OpenStudy (i_am_kye):

What is the simplest way for phosphorus to gain a stable octet? Lose 5 electrons Gain 5 electrons Gain 3 electrons Lose 3 electrons

OpenStudy (duke):

Ohh we got a hottie here

OpenStudy (leenathan):

try to help @duke and also @I_Am_Kye welcome to open study i would think the answer is gain 3 but i may be wrong

OpenStudy (aaronq):

"gain 3 electrons" is correct. If you look at a periodic table you can see P is group 5 (which means it has 5 valence electrons) so in order to have 8 valence electrons it needs 3 more.
