OpenStudy (matt6288):

How many moles of OH- are in 200.0 mL of a 1.25 M NaOH solution?

OpenStudy (matt6288):

is it .25mol

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you would need to use the molarity formula, \(\sf Molarity=\dfrac{moles}{L_{solution}}\) Therefore, \(\sf moles=Molarity*L_{solution}=(1.25 ~mol/L)*(0.2 ~L)\)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Btw, this is true because each molecule of NaOH has one \(OH^-\) ion. If the compound produced a different amount, e.g. \(Ca(OH)_2\), the answer would be different.
