OpenStudy (vianne):

Kknow how to solve Fractions?

OpenStudy (katze):

I do but not this one. This is something I never learned yet and my teacher's gonna throw it in there. -sigh

OpenStudy (vianne):

Let's do first one first. 12 x 2 2/3

OpenStudy (vianne):

First we need 12 to be a fraction, know how to?

OpenStudy (katze):

12/1?

OpenStudy (vianne):

Correct, and it's easier for us to do 2 2/3 in improper fraction than mixed when solving. What is 2 2/3 improper?

OpenStudy (katze):

8/3

OpenStudy (vianne):

Ok so now \[\frac{ 12 }{ 1} \times \frac{ 8 }{ 3}\]

OpenStudy (vianne):

12 * 8 is? 1 * 3 is?

OpenStudy (katze):

96/3? o.o

OpenStudy (vianne):

Now we can simplify, 96 divided by 3 is?

OpenStudy (katze):

That'll be 32.

OpenStudy (vianne):

So now, does 32 match with A, B, or C?

OpenStudy (katze):

It goes with B right?

OpenStudy (vianne):

I believe so, let's go over 3

OpenStudy (vianne):

12 x 5/5

OpenStudy (katze):

12 because 5/5 is a whole and 12 x 1 is 12.

OpenStudy (katze):

The answer will be C.

OpenStudy (vianne):

Yup, or if you wanted to do the long way, 12 * 5 = 60 1 * 5 = 5, 60/5 = 12.

OpenStudy (vianne):

So, are you capable of doing the rest? :'D

OpenStudy (katze):

I don't think so.

OpenStudy (vianne):

So we did 1 and 3, let's do 2 and 4. I promise the others aren't even hard either! 3/5 * 7/7

OpenStudy (katze):

Ok.

OpenStudy (vianne):

That would equal??

OpenStudy (katze):

Wait, 7/7=1 whole and 3/5 x 1= 3/5 again right?

OpenStudy (vianne):

Yup, or if you did long way then it would be 21/35 divided by 7/7 because that's a common factor which would equal 3/5. :P

OpenStudy (katze):

Oh ok. So I got C.

OpenStudy (katze):

Not sure how to do the other one, sorry.

OpenStudy (vianne):

That one is the easiest in my opinion lol.. 2/3 x 3/4 Thank God it isn't addition and subtraction or that would be a pain..

OpenStudy (vianne):

2*3? 3*4?

OpenStudy (vianne):

You just multiply numerator * numerator and denominator * denominator.. This one you can cross cancel, but that's too hard for me to show online :S

OpenStudy (katze):

That's 6/12.

OpenStudy (vianne):

Ok, now what's that simplified?

OpenStudy (katze):

1/2?

OpenStudy (vianne):

Now is 1/2 greater or less than 2/3? 3/4?

OpenStudy (katze):

Less. So...A.

OpenStudy (vianne):

It's easy to compare in decimal form if you want. .5 vs .66 and .75

OpenStudy (vianne):

Yup :D

OpenStudy (katze):

Ok, thanks alot! I aprreciate it.

OpenStudy (katze):

:)
